Me during my time in AIESEC training kids at Mugabe Secondary about SDGs and there contribution.

Starting university in 2017 was such a fantastic opportunity in my life with many expectations, such as getting new friends and experience college life. However, my biggest worry was if I could utilize my time in the important stuff and manage my growth. I was the kind of person who couldn’t even interact with anyone. I had poor communication skills, a slow learner, poor time manager, prioritization of personal activities, and many other weaknesses.

Me back in the years.

Me in 2018

I spend a lot of time seeking an opportunity to improve my weaknesses and create the best version of myself. Sometimes I found myself not ready for the experience. I was scared of approaching people. I was still incapable of managing my time. No one knew any better because all of my peers found themselves in similar situations.

The day I was waiting.

Time passed, and I stayed the same until one day when I witnessed the lecture presentation of a student who was part of AIESEC. Through his presentation about AIESEC, he hit all of my insecurities. At the same time, mentioning that the organization could help one improve in those areas and develop skills that I didn’t even know, I would need. So I took his contacts and find him for almost two weeks, asking if I could get a chance to join. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made in my university career.

Its People I met made me stay.

I met amazing people who didn’t just help me become a better version of myself but also became great friends and my main reason to stay. Afterward, I decided to apply to every AIESEC opportunity with no fear. Still, dedication and eagerness to grow. Good enough, AIESEC has challenged me for four years. Every time I felt comfortable, a new opportunity popped up, and I decided to take it.

I worked as a Member, Team Leader, Local Chapter Vice President, President, Regional Support Member, Global Support Member, and Country Director of Marketing and Incoming Exchanges.

AIESEC taught me how to be resilient and understand my values; due to this am able today to face any difficulty with no fear but the power to win. I have been the President of the chapter, which I struggled to join years ago. I have been able to lead myself and others. I have been trying, trying, trying, failing, failing, trying, succeeding, and then everything all over again.

AIESEC is just fuel, but you’re the Engine.

Me as a President together with my Vice Presidents during start of my term.

AIESEC is a platform. It gives you an opportunity, and you can decide to change something, challenge yourself, and see where you will end up. To learn, but to learn with the real resources, real people, real-time. To learn from others and to develop them. I had the incredible privilege of working in a team with people from different countries, learning together with them, and developing them on their journey.

Thanks to AIESEC, I will always appreciate the time I had volunteering and working professionally.
